2019 – What a year!

Enjoy some of our favourite stories from the past 12 months, none of which would have been possible without your support.

6 VOLUNTEERING EVENTS IN 4 DAYS!

We finished a huge week with QLD Bulls as part of their player development program. After packing hampers yesterday, the team finished the week by handing out 200 hampers and produce to the community at a Zillmere pop-up food event. Big thanks to the entire team at Queensland Cricket & Bulls Masters

ON HER FIRST ATTEMPT!

Meet Charlotte, she stole our hearts this week when she drove all the way from the Gold Coast to deliver the last of her food drives. She arranged 4 food drives at 4 different locations all by herself and raised enough for over 210 meals!

CREEK TO COAST

It was awesome to be involved with such an amazing adventure. Big thanks must go out to Channel 7 and the Creek to Coast Team as well as Sunseeker Caravans and Isuzu UTE Australia!

HERE COMES MEAL NUMBER 1 MILLION!

Congratulations to the team at FareShare for providing their 1 millionth Fareshare/Foodbank cooked meal. An incredible milestone to achieve since opening the doors to their Brisbane charity kitchen only 365 days ago!

WE HAVE A SURPRISE, YOU GUYS SEE IT FIRST! 💜💜

We created a 30 second video for display on the big screen tonight in front of 30,000+ fans at the Brisbane Broncos game. We managed to recruit some very special support from the one and only Jimmy Barnes – Official ….sound on till the end 🔊🔊

400 STUDENTS & 2 BRONCOS

Redbank Plains State High School school breakfast is something special. We saw first hand around 400 students in attendance yesterday. It may have been a little higher thanks to our helpers from the Brisbane Broncos.

Tegan mentioned, the social impact that the breakfast club has on wellbeing is just as important as the food itself, helping kids with insecurities and inclusion. Tegan and her student volunteers serve over 1000 breakfast every week thanks to the joint efforts of Foodbank and YMCA Schools’ Breakfast Program

MORE THAN $30,000 RAISED FOR THE FRIDGE TO BRISBANE TEAM!

Thank you! Over 80 runners chose to support us in yesterday’s fun run. We’re still coming down from what was an amazing day and can’t wait for next years event!

A huge shout out to our Purple Truck man himself Stephen Carey who not only ran both the 10km and the 5km in the truck costume, but was instrumental in his support, helping us reach our target.
Thank you Bridge to Brisbane for an amazing event!

TWO LITTLE ONES, PROUD AS PUNCH!

As part of their ‘100 days of Prep’ project, Temperance and Braxton were asked to make something using 100 items. So they chose to make a difference!

They chose to collect cans and to make a donation to Foodbank so they could help fight hunger. They set a goal to reach 100 cans of food each and they did it!

Congratulations Temperance and Braxton! and a big thank you from all of us here at Foodbank Queensland for your 200 can donation!
