Our fundraising champions
There are lots of ways you can support Foodbank from food drives to donations. Every little helps Queenslanders who are doing it tough. Here are four examples:
The wonderful team at the Department of Transport and Main Roads held a month long food drive across their Southeast Queensland offices. They raised nearly 400kgs of pantry items, canned goods and essential items, which have been distributed to our charity partners.
For Nicholas and Fletcher, they celebrated their birthday a little differently. For three-year-old Fletcher, he held a can-struction party. Instead of presents, he asked his friends to bring along a can or two so that they could build towers, bridges and buildings. After the party, Fletcher came by the warehouse to donate the cans, $50 and got to look around the warehouse.
Instead of spending money on a night out, Nicholas asked his friends to donate what they could to his Facebook Fundraiser. He set out with a $300 target and thanks to his friends and family, he surpassed that and raised $490 – that’s 980 meals for Queenslanders in need.
A special mention to our national partner, Ferrero, who donated nationally 230 pallets of chocolate eggs and bunnies just in time for the Easter long-weekend. As someone in need commented “I was lucky to be able to get some of the Kinder Bunnies from my local food co-op today, it really helped with Easter in my family.”
