VISION: To end hunger in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

MISSION:To get the most good food to the most people in need in SA and the NT and in the most efficient way possible.

CORE BUSINESS: Foodbank is South Australia’s and the Northern Territories largest hunger-relief organisation. We are a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation that sources and supplies food and other grocery items to welfare agencies in SA and the NT. These organisations can then supply the food to people in need in the form of food parcels and/or meals, or refer them to shop at one of our Food Hubs. Our Food Hubs now make up over 80% of food distribution. Foodbank SA & NT helps over 152,000 South Australian and Northern Territorians every month and one-third are children.

VOLUNTEER ROLES: Foodbank requires volunteers to assist in our distribution centre in Pooraka. The volunteers will carry out general warehouse duties such as: sorting groceries, packing food hampers, making up meal packs, labelling products or sorting/packing fruit & vegetables. Please note that this work is physically active and will involve walking, bending, lifting, stretching and reaching. Any limitations that may impact your ability to undertake these activities should be advised to us asap, this is so we can determine if alternative suitable tasks are available.

DATES: As indicated on email/sign-up

TIMES: 9.30am to 1.00pm.

MAX NO. OF VOLUNTEERS: 10-12 people max. (min. of 8) unless by agreement.

Please note all volunteers must be registered to participate, the online registration link will be emailed to the organiser. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or over.

SAFETY: If you have access to safety boots, please wear these. Accidents can happen and safety boots provide an additional level of protection. If not, flat, closed-toe sneakers must be worn for access to the warehouse. 

Please be aware there is strictly no mobile phone use in the warehouse.

FACILITIES: Tea Room with tea, coffee, water and snacks. Bathrooms available and locker for personal belongings.

DONATION: Foodbank SA & NT is a not-for-profit organisation totally reliant on funds from the community, corporate partners, sponsors & grants. To help us help the ever increasing number of people requiring food relief, we require a donation of $500 to host your group.

The impact of this will be the provision of 1000 meals, for every $1.00 donated we can provide 2 meals to those in need. Please note current sponsors and partners are exempt.
