CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION

Riverland

WHERE TO ATTEND:Foodbank SA & NT – Hoskin Rd & Old Sturt Hwy

VISION: To end hunger in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

MISSION:To get the most good food to the most people in need in SA and the NT and in the most efficient way possible.

CORE BUSINESS: Foodbank is South Australia’s and the Northern Territories largest hunger-relief organisation. We are a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation that sources and supplies food and other grocery items to welfare agencies in SA and the NT. These organisations then supply the food to people in need in the form of food parcels or meals. Approximately 135,000 South Australians are accessing food relief each month and 15,000 Territorians. One-third are children.

VOLUNTEER ROLES: Foodbank requires volunteers to assist in our hub in Ceduna. The volunteers will carry out food rescue by sorting and merchandising fruit and vegetables that have been recovered from our local supermarket partners. They will also sort, merchandise and restock shelves, fridges and freezers. This vital work helps ensure that our valued clients have access to fresh and nutritious produce.

DATES: Offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday with exact dates confirmed via email.

TIMES: 9.30am to 1.00pm.

MAX NO. OF VOLUNTEERS: Between 2 and 3 people maximum. Please note all volunteers must be registered to participate, the online registration link will be emailed to the organiser.

SAFETY:You must wear ENCLOSED shoes, please no thongs, sandals or open toed shoes. Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate to the season as it can get hot or cold in the warehouse. Foodbank provides hi-visibility vests.

Please be aware there is no mobile phone use in the warehouse.

FACILITIES: Staff kitchen available. Bathrooms available and safe space for personal belongings.

DONATIONS: Foodbank SA & NT is a Not for Profit organisation totally reliant on funds from the community, sponsors & grants. To help us help others in need, we ask organisations to make a $250 tax deductible donation for this team building exercise where all donations will go towards purchase of food for hampers!

CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION

Royal Adelaide Show

Thank you for volunteering with Foodbank SA & NT at the Royal Adelaide Show 2025! Please read the information below and then ensure that you register your attendance.

WHERETOMEET: Kidman Gates at the Rose Terrace Entrance, Adelaide Showgrounds.

WHEN TOMEET: Ten minutes before the start of your shift. A Foodbank staff member will be there to meet you and give you your day pass and as a group walk to the Foodbank SA & NT stand in The Jubilee Pavilion.

CAN I ARRIVE EARLIER TO ENJOY THE SHOW: Yes, please arrive at the earlier shift to the one you are volunteering at to pick up your ticket. If you are volunteering for the 12.30 PM shift, please turn up at 8.30 AM (ten mins before). This ensures our Foodbank staff member can be in attendance at the stand all the time. You are also welcome to enjoy the Show once your shift has ended.

WHAT ARE THE SHIFT TIMES: Shift start times are 8.30AM, 12.30PM and 4.30PM.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING:Foodbank SA & NT will be giving out a product (to be confirmed) from Kellanova as part of the Yellow Brick Road. Roles will mainly include map stamping, handing out product and stacking shelves. A percentage of the Yellow Brick Road bags purchased will be donated to Foodbank SA & NT.

WILL I GET MORE INFORMATION: Yes, there will be a full briefing pack emailed to everyone registered as a volunteer. This will include all instructions you need. There will also be the opportunity to join a Teams meeting brief and ask any questions. In addition, the Adelaide Showgrounds will require all participants to complete an online OHS form and access to this will be part of the briefing pack.

SAFETY:You must wear ENCLOSED shoes, please no thongs, sandals or open toed shoes. Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather, layering is a good idea. Foodbank SA & NT will provide purple aprons to wear.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Yes- bus, train and tram stops nearby. Please note that there is NO PARKING available from Foodbank SA & NT.

These organisations then supply the food to people in need in the form of food parcels or meals. Approximately 135,000 South Australians are accessing food relief each month and 15,000 Territorians. One-third are children.

VOLUNTEER ROLES: Foodbank requires volunteers to assist in our distribution centre in Mount Gambier. The volunteers will carry out general warehouse duties such as: sorting groceries, packing meal packs and/or packing fruit & vegetables.

MAX NO. OF VOLUNTEERS: Between 1 – 4 people maximum. Please note all volunteers must be registered to participate, the online registration link will be emailed to the organiser.

The impact of this will be the provision of 500 meals, as for every $1.00 we receive, we can provide 2 meals to those in need.  Please note that current sponsors and partners are exempt.
