Leave a Gift in Your Will

How to create your legacy of care

A gift in your Will for Foodbank TAS is a positive, life-changing contribution that will help us achieve a Tasmania without hunger.

Making a Will and leaving a legacy is a very personal decision. A Will ensures your personal wishes will be honoured. It’s also the first step in supporting the people and causes you love and care about. You should consult a legal advisor, such as a solicitor or trustee, to ensure your Will is subject to the laws of Tasmania.

It’s important to review your Will regularly. Key milestones to update your Will include:

  • marriage
  • birth
  • separation or divorce
  • retirement
  • death in the family

Why Your Gift Matters

Right now, thousands of Tasmanians are facing hunger. By choosing to leave a gift in your will, you’ll help ensure we can keep sourcing and distributing nutritious food well into the future. Your generosity will provide more than just meals – it will bring hope, dignity and relief to people doing it tough.

Donations in lieu of a gift or flowers

When a cause has touched the life of a relative or friend, you might wish to commemorate that person in a way that can continue that cause. One way of doing this is to request that a Foodbank donation be made in place of birthday presents and other gifts, or flowers at a funeral. Most undertakers can organise this as part of their service, but you can also directly donate to Foodbank TAS.

If you’d like to arrange a donation, please get in touch.

Help Foodbank Tasmania

Everyone can make a difference by giving time, food or funds to help Tasmanians in need.

With your help, we can help put food on the table for people struggling.

Sadly, our research shows that 25% of adults in Tasmania experience severe food insecurity, which means they ran out of food and, at worst, went entire days without eating.

Donate funds

Donating funds is the most powerful way to support Foodbank Tasmania. Every dollar helps us source, transport and distribute food where it’s needed most, reaching Tasmanians facing hunger quickly and efficiently.

Sustainable development goals

Foodbank plays a vital role in helping Australia deliver on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — a global blueprint to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.

Our work directly supports five of the 17 goals:

We support people experiencing hardship by providing essential food relief. We work with charities and schools across Australia to help build stronger, more resilient communities. By reducing the pressure of food insecurity, we help lessen the impact of poverty and give people the support they need to get back on their feet.

Foodbank is Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation. Our mission is for a hunger-free Australia. We work with the entire Australian food and grocery industry to source and distribute food to ensure everyone has access to good food. Achieving zero hunger is key to improving health, education and equality.

Food insecurity doesn’t discriminate and impacts many people in our communities. Our work helps bridge the gap by supporting those doing it tough, have access to good, culturally appropriate food.

Australian produces enough food for the population three times over. We rescue and divert from landfill, perfectly edible food and groceries from farms and growers to manufacturers and retailers. We are advocating the Federal Government to apply a National Food Donation Incentive.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We work with growers, producers, charities, schools, governments and corporate partners to share resources and deliver real impact.

Every child deserves healthy meals

Foodbank helps deliver regular, nutritious breakfasts to students across Australia.

We support programs that give students the opportunity to eat a wholesome, nutritious breakfast on a regular basis.

Having breakfast has been shown to have a positive impact on factors such as physical and mental health, social skills, concentration, behaviour, attendance and academic outcomes.

In Tasmania, we work with schools to make sure students start the day with a full belly, ready to learn and play at their best.

We’d love to support your school too!
