Hold a food drive

Holding a food drive is a great way to get everyone together for a meaningful cause. By collecting non-perishable food and personal items for Foodbank Tasmania, we can direct them to households struggling. You can help raise much needed meals by organising your own food drive for Foodbank at your workplace, school or community group.

Some of our most in demand items include:

  • Canned fruit, vegetables, soups and meals
  • Breakfast cereal
  • Pasta, noodles and rice
  • Long life milk and juice
  • Coffee, tea and spreads
  • Muesli bars, dried fruit and nuts
  • Sauces, seasoning, cooking supplies like flour, oil and sugar
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Soap and deodorant
  • Dental floss, toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Tissues and toilet paper
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Household cleaning items

Donations must be unopened, in their original packaging with full ingredient and allergen listing, and within their best before date.

Fundraise for Foodbank

Every $1 donated = 2 meals created

We rely on the generosity of people like you to help provide meals to Tasmanians doing it tough. Whether you’re planning a personal challenge or a community event, every dollar raised makes a real difference.

How to fundraise

Here are some simple and impactful ways to get involved:

  • Take on a challenge — run, swim, walk or climb for a cause.
  • Host a virtual food drive — rally your workplace or community online.
  • Celebrate with purpose — ask for donations instead of gifts for your birthday, wedding or anniversary.
  • Organise a local event — morning teas, trivia nights, sausage sizzles and more.

Every donation helps Foodbank Tasmania deliver meals to people facing hunger. And remember, donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Volunteering as an Individual

Volunteering with Foodbank is an amazing opportunity contribute to and support your community, learn new skills and develop friendships with a welcoming team. We have a variety of roles available including:

The Foodbank Tasmania warehouse is the bustling heart of our organisation, where large donations of food and fresh produce are stored. Warehouse volunteers assist by packing orders, assisting welfare agencies with collecting orders, sorting groceries and packing fruit and vegetables
Foodbank Drivers are out and about representing Foodbank Tasmania. They assist by collecting donated food and groceries from donor companies and delivering to our network of charities, community groups and schools.
The Foodbank Tassie office is a welcoming environment where our friendly staff work away behind the scenes – allowing our services to tick along smoothly. Office Volunteers play a vital role in supporting staff to get their work done, and in turn get the food out to people who need it.

Corporate Volunteering

There are many ways Corporate Groups can get involved and support Foodbank.

Our corporate volunteer experiences allow you to make a meaningful contribution, gain different skills and work with colleagues in a different team environment. This creates a valuable team building and bonding opportunity.

Transport Services

One of the greatest challenges in getting food to people who need it is transport. The costs to collect and deliver the food to our charity partners can be prohibitive without external transport support.

The Foodbank Fruit & Vegetable Program

Our National Produce Program allows the whole horticulture industry and supply chain to donate much needed fruit and vegetables to families who are doing it tough. Annually fruit and vegetables account for more than a third of our total volume, which is crucial for the communities we support.

In addition to helping provide nutritious fruit and vegetables, this program also provides the fruit and vegetable industry with a viable and sustainable option for managing waste and products that may be out of specification, helping to reduce the amount of edible produce unnecessarily going to waste or landfill.

With a Foodbank in every state and territory and a presence at each state wholesale market, donating fruit and vegetables to Foodbank is easy!

Egg Program

Providing eggs to those in need

We work to source fresh eggs through generous donations or, in some cases, by purchasing them. These eggs are then distributed through our extensive charity network and school breakfast programs, reaching those who need them most.

Our ultimate goal is to establish a regular, sustainable supply of eggs in every state and territory. We have a simple, yet effective process for our generous egg donors, but the demand far outstrips the supply and we’re always needing more, including transport partners to help us get these delicious eggs to where they are needed. Whether it’s a one-off donation or an ongoing commitment to supply eggs at regular intervals, every contribution makes a difference.
