The Foodbank

Meat Program

Making protein accessible

At Foodbank, we provide food relief to more than one million people each month, with more than 30% going to regional areas.

When household budgets get tight, meat is often one of the first grocery items to be removed from the shopping list. However, meat is an important source of protein for maintaining a balanced diet.

To help meet the need, we aim to work with the entire protein industry as part of our Foodbank Meat Program, to source, manufacture and create a regular and reliable supply of meat such as mince and sausage ready for those in need.

How does it work?

Contributions can be regular or one-off, large or small. All will help provide a vital source of protein to people who would otherwise go without. We need help from livestock producers to stock feed suppliers, transporters, processors, manufacturers, and packaging, carton and label suppliers to help feed those in need.

The Foodbank Grain Program

Making every grain count

Each year, we need more pasta and cereal to help those doing it tough. The Foodbank Grain Program is essential for us to meet the increasing need, and we can’t do it without the farmers and partners who support us in any way they can.

The impact of this program is boosted through collaboration with our manufacturing partners, who donate the production time, and their ingredient suppliers who provide donations, discounts, or subsidies. This model means our programs are sustainable, efficient and impactful.

For every $1 invested, we can distribute $5 worth of food to people who would otherwise go without.

How to get involved

The process of donating grain is simple and can have a significant impact on someone in need. For example, a donation of just half a tonne of grain provides more than 12,000 servings of cereal for people in need.

Anyone in the grain supply chain can make a difference by being involved in our grain program, from financial supporters, growers, traders, bulk handlers and millers, to packaging companies, manufacturers and transport providers. Grain growers anywhere in Australia can help with even the smallest grain donation of any type or any grade.

The Foodbank

Milk Program

To help the many Aussies struggling right now and give them one less thing to worry about, we developed a vital and industry-leading collaboration with Australia’s largest dairy companies to help supply Foodbank with over 900,000 litres of fresh milk every year.

How the program works

It’s pretty easy – our generous milk partners supply their delicious milk to Foodbank weekly or fortnightly, ready for our network of charity partners and school breakfast programs to collect or have delivered (via industry cold chain standards).
