The concrete floor slab was successfully completed in two pours and cured to achieve maximum strength, while works also commenced on the future car park and access roads, with subbase materials installed to create a strong foundation for vehicle access areas.   

Since then, substantial progress has been made on the building structure itself. Throughout May and June, formwork, reinforcement and concrete casting of the tilt-up wall panels were undertaken, with panels entering the curing phase before being erected on site. Today, the external walls are now standing proudly, marking a major milestone and providing the first real glimpse of what will soon become a vital hub for food relief and community support across the Southwest.   

Key supporting infrastructure has also continued to progress, with the Western Power approval process for the solar PV system advancing and the fabrication of windows, doors and glazing remaining on schedule.   

Construction is now preparing to enter another important phase, with roof works set to commence towards the end of July. As the roof is installed and the building becomes fully enclosed, the project will take another significant step forward. Visible progress continues week by week, and it is exciting to see the vision becoming a reality.   

Visitors to the multi-hub site which will include The Financial Wellbeing Collective and Youth Focus may also have noticed our new project sign, proudly recognising and thanking the funding partners whose generosity and support have helped make this development possible. Their investment is helping create a lasting community asset that will strengthen our ability to support people experiencing food insecurity throughout the region.   

Most encouragingly, the project remains on track for practical completion in mid-December, with a move into the new facility anticipated in early 2027. We look forward to sharing further updates as construction continues and this exciting project reaches its next milestones.
