PAFC’S ARE PROUDLY SUPPORTING THE

SCHOOL BREAKFAST PROGRAM

Foodbank South Australia School Breakfast Program helps to provide healthy, nutritious food to children who turn up to school hungry. The program also helps schools to provide fruit bowls in classrooms and common areas for students to consume at school.

Foodbank SA delivers breakfast foods to schools free of charge in all regions of South Australia and also provides food to other charities for their school breakfast programs.

Breakfast items provided free of charge to registered schools in South Australia through the School Breakfast Program include cereal, long-life milk, canned fruit, Vegemite, jam, fresh fruit, and bread.

The Reality of Child Hunger

  • More than one in five children in Australia live in a food insecure household and have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months.
  • In South Australia, it is closer to 1 in 4 children.
  • At least once a week, 18% of children go to school without eating breakfast.
  • 15% got to school without a packed lunch or lunch money.
  • 11% go to bed without eating any dinner.

Thank you for the yummy food that you gave to my school breakfast club. Your food has helped me to learn and become smart at school.

– Sarah, School Student

Your support to this program means…

That we can source, pack and deliver more breakfast foods to vulnerable schoolchildren in South Australia, including those in disaster affected areas as their families rebuild their lives.
