Community impact through the Baker Hughes Sausage Sizzle
Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and during Anti-Poverty Week 2026, Foodbank WA and Baker Hughes joined forces to create a warm and welcoming experience for people facing hardship.
As part of its commitment to community engagement and meaningful employee volunteering, Baker Hughes partnered with Foodbank to host a sausage sizzle at our Perth Airport branch.
The event was designed not only to provide a hot meal for clients, but also to raise awareness of food insecurity in Western Australia and the challenges many individuals and families face every day.
Working alongside Foodbank staff and volunteers, 33 Baker Hughes employees rolled up their sleeves to support the event. From cooking and serving food to welcoming clients and assisting with event activities, volunteers helped create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone felt valued and respected.
Throughout the morning, more than 250 clients attended the event, with over 250 hot dogs served. While the meal itself was appreciated, the opportunity for connection and conversation was equally important. A friendly smile, a warm welcome and a shared meal helped promote a sense of community during a week dedicated to highlighting the realities of poverty across Australia.
The event demonstrated the powerful impact corporate volunteering can have on local communities. By donating their time and energy, Baker Hughes volunteers helped support Foodbank’s vision of ensuring everyone has access to healthy food while reinforcing the importance of dignity, respect and human connection.
We are grateful to Baker Hughes and its employees for their enthusiasm and commitment to giving back. Together, we helped create a memorable experience for Foodbank clients and shone a light on the vital role community partnerships play in addressing food insecurity across Western Australia.
