World Milk Day

Celebrating milk with its very own profile

The nutritional profile of milk is impressive. It is after all, designed to fully nourish newborns and baby animals.

Milk is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, it provides potassium, B12, calcium which are lacking in many diets. Milk is also a source of vitamin A, magnesium zinc and thiamine (B1).

Additionally, it’s an excellent source of protein and contains hundreds of different fatty acids.

Not only yummy, but this powerful combination of essential nutrients also means that drinking milk has long been associated with maintaining strong, healthy bones.

You can take advantage of the versatile nature of milk that can be easily added to your diet. Aside from drinking milk, try these ideas for incorporating it into your daily routine:

Smoothies – It makes an excellent, high-protein base for healthy smoothies. Try combining it with greens and a small amount of fruit for a nutritious snack.

Oatmeal – It provides a tasty, more nutritious alternative to water when making your morning oatmeal or hot cereal.

If you’re not a fan of milk, there are other dairy products that have similar nutrient profiles.

For example, unsweetened yogurt made from milk contains more protein, calcium and phosphorus.

We are so grateful to our partners who make milk available to customers and for our School Breakfast Program.

Between Lactalis Australia and Bega Cheese Limited, families, schools, kids and households all throughout Western Australia have access to this great source of calcium and protein – something they might otherwise go without.

Lactalis Australia have been supplying milk to our School Breakfast Program since 2008, milk that heads into schools in every corner of the state and can be accessed by 22,500 kids each and every week.

And Bega continue to support families doing it tough with the cost of living. Last year alone they made 110,656 litres of milk available for households accessing our service – all households that otherwise wouldn’t have had access to such a wholesome everyday staple.
