You’re helping us pop up in communities in need

Foodbank NSW & ACT’s Regional Food Relief Coordinator has been a crucial part of the team that, with your help, enabled Foodbank pop-ups to reach our neighbours in regional communities.

She shares this update on how your very kind support made it possible to bring a pop up to people in Wagga Wagga.

“We started at 7am on a very chilly morning with a quick run-through of our risk assessment, and then we waited patiently for the Council to deliver a forklift. People started to arrive at 8.15am for the 9.30am start.

Wagga Mayor Mr Dallas Tout arrived and quickly took the role of traffic director. I’m not sure he has a ticket for that, but in true country style, everyone just pitches in to get the job done!

We were all hands on deck, making sure that everything was well presented with access for people in wheelchairs, people using walkers and young families with prams. People surprised me with how well-mannered they were and mindful that others were also in need, taking only what they could use.”

“It’s a lot of work. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat! It was one of the most rewarding days for community. The feedback has been fantastic.”

We’re so grateful to Colina for sharing her experiences in Wagga Wagga – and to you for making this amazing work possible. Your kindness is making sure that struggling people in regional communities don’t have to go hungry. On behalf of the entire team, thank you.
