Who is Ruah?

We have so many amazing agencies we partner with who make a world of difference to so many people across our state. We are hoping to highlight the work of a different agency we partner with for each edition of Foodbank Pantry. So, who is Ruah

Ruah Community Services who recently joined us as an agency partner. Ruah supports the Mid-West region through three vital programs: Stronger Ground (Mental Health Support), Good Days Recreation Groups, and Midwest Family Service (Family Domestic and Sexual Violence Support).

Through their various programs, Ruah works with a diverse range of individuals and families in the Mid-West, including those who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, people living with disabilities or health issues, survivors of domestic and family violence, families and single parents, people experiencing homelessness, individuals with low or insufficient income, people living with mental health challenges, refugees and new migrants, people impacted by substance abuse or dependency, and young people and those experiencing unemployment.

Their Stronger Ground Program offers personalised support to people diagnosed with severe and persistent mental health challenges, helping individuals build strength and resilience within their community. This service is complemented by Ruah’s Respite Accommodation Service in Geraldton which is a four-bed facility providing short-term care and support to people aged 18–65, offering a safe space to rest and recover.

The Good Days Recreation Program is a free, activity-based initiative designed to improve mental health through connection, engagement, movement, and fun. It is open to individuals aged 16–65 who are living with severe and persistent mental health challenges and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, the program creates a welcoming community for participants to enjoy positive, healing experiences.

The Midwest Family Service provides crucial support for survivors of family, domestic, and sexual violence, helping individuals and their children heal, recover, and rebuild their lives in a safe and empowering environment.

We are so pleased that we can help Ruah to make a difference to those doing it tough. Through their services, Ruah continues its mission to help people flourish, connect, and thrive, creating stronger and more inclusive communities across the Mid-West.

Together, we can feed change for those going without.
