Corporate Volunteering FAQs

The current quarter booking link can be found here

The upcoming quarter booking link can be found here. We open this link 5-6 weeks prior to the quarter starting.

Please note:

  • The number of participant slots we have stated is the max capacity we can take. Those slot numbers represent individuals and not groups.
  • If the date you’re after is unavailable, please reach out and we can place your group on a waitlist for that specific date, (or date range) and we will be reach out once those slots become available.
  • It’s vitally important that groups understand the process of booking to ensure you don’t inadvertently break our terms & conditions

The maximum of volunteers we welcome per day depend on day and activity. Please be aware we have a minimum age requirement of 15.

The three roles are detailed further below:

  • Pick Packing (Mon–Wed) Help pack food orders on the warehouse floor. Volunteers collect items from shelves and pack them onto pallets for delivery to schools and community partners.
  • Food Rescue (Wed–Fri) Support by labelling and packaging donated groceries that would otherwise go to waste. This includes bagging fresh produce into portions or re-labelling items so they can be distributed to families in need.
  • Hamper Packing (Quarter 4, weekdays) Join a production line to build, label, and fill boxes with food items, then seal and palletise them. Some volunteers assist by opening boxes and clearing rubbish to keep the line moving. The goal is 750 hampers per day (8:30am–1:30pm, or until the target is met).

Foodbank NSW & ACT doesn’t charge for corporate volunteering, but those interested in supporting our mission further are welcome to donate food or funds.

If you were looking to make a further contribution to our cause, we gratefully welcome donations of food or funds along with your volunteering day. Info about Food Drives can be found here should you be interested.

Volunteer shift time slots are below:

  • Shifts: 9am-2pm
  • Christmas Hamper Packing shifts: 8.30am-1.30pm

All volunteering shift are located at Foodbank NSW & ACT Distribution Centre.

  • Address: 50 Owen St, Glendenning, 2761

Once the Volunteer Team approves the request, the organiser/booker will receive an email confirming the shift and a link to share with all team members. Everyone—including the booker if they are attending—must register individually through that link so they are attached to the group booking.

Each person who registers will receive their own confirmation and a WHS Safety flyer, which must be read before attending on the day.

Attendees arrive 10mins before the official start time to ensure a prompt and on-time start for the group.

During your shift you will have a morning tea option at 11am (approx. 15-20 mins). There is a mobile canteen/coffee van that comes along, as well as the café directly across the road.

We do have a breakroom that has a fridge, microwave and toaster should your team want to use our facilities.

As for potential lunch options afterwards, there are a couple of great options nearby.

  • The Marsden Brewhouse
  • Alroy Tavern
  • Lone Pine Tavern
