Food rescue partnerships
making a bigger impact

Foodbank WA is proud to play a leading role in reducing both food insecurity and food waste across Western Australia,

helping ensure good food reaches people who need it most, no matter which organisation ultimately places it into the hands of those experiencing hardship.

Over the past 12 months, Foodbank has donated an impressive 112,351 kilograms of surplus food to OzHarvest WA, helping create 224,702 meals for vulnerable Western Australians.

This significant contribution demonstrates the scale of Foodbank WA’s food rescue and redistribution efforts, and our commitment to working collaboratively across the food relief sector to maximise community impact.

We have also provided 3,298 kilograms of surplus fresh produce to SecondBite, supporting their food rescue activities and helping ensure quality fruit and vegetables reached people in need. While opportunities to donate produce can vary depending on the availability of similar products across the sector, we remain committed to sharing surplus food wherever it can be most effectively utilised.

These contributions reflect the strength of our sourcing, warehousing and distribution network, which enables millions of kilograms of food to be redirected from potential waste each year and put to better use supporting Western Australians doing it tough.

At a time when demand for food relief continues to rise, collaboration between food rescue and hunger relief organisations has never been more important. By working alongside partners such as OzHarvest WA and SecondBite, Foodbank helps strengthen the overall food relief system, ensuring nutritious food is distributed as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Every kilogram of food rescued and redistributed represents more than a meal.

It represents support for an individual, family or community facing hardship, while also delivering environmental benefits by reducing food waste.

We are proud to work alongside like-minded organisations across the sector to create lasting impact. Together, we are helping ensure more good food reaches more people, more often, while building a stronger and more food-secure Western Australia.
