How we help Australia deliver on the
UN Sustainable Development Goals

MADE Meals being prepared at the Foodbank WA Community Kitchen.

At Foodbank WA, we believe healthy food is a basic human right.

Every day we feed, educate and advocate to make sure every Western Australian has access to the food they need.

Our work not only supports local communities, it also plays a vital role in helping Australia deliver on key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

No poverty and zero hunger

We provide food and groceries to everyday Western Australians who are experiencing food stress, including during natural disasters. In FY24 we provided more than 9.3 million meals, ensuring support reaches families, individuals and communities when they need it most. Our School Breakfast Program helps over 25,330 students start their day with a nutritious meal, giving children the best chance to learn and thrive.

Reduced inequalities

Our services reach regional and remote communities across Western Australia. Through our branches, Mobile Foodbanks, volunteers and charity partners, we make sure people facing barriers to access are supported with dignity and respect. We connect people to wider supports and offer nutrition education that empowers households to build healthier and more resilient futures.

Responsible consumption and production

Reducing food waste is at the heart of what we do. In FY25 we rescued 4.3 million kilos of surplus and imperfect food that would otherwise have gone to landfill. Less than 5% of the food we source ends up as waste thanks to our quality checks, our Community Kitchen and partnerships with local farmers and RichGro, who turn remaining scraps into fertiliser. This work significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and supports a circular food economy across Western Australia.

Partnerships for the goals

None of this is possible without strong partnerships. We work with growers, manufacturers, retailers, community organisations, donors and thousands of volunteers to create meaningful environmental and social impact. With a demonstrated Social Return on Investment of $5.68 for every dollar invested, we are committed to transparency, ethical governance and long term, sustainable change.

Together, we are building a more sustainable, equitable and resilient Western Australia. With your help, we can continue to get healthy food to those who need it, reduce waste and strengthen communities for generations to come.
