Mandarin harvest delivers fresh fruit to communities

In August, we were delighted to return to the Gibbs Family Farm in Chittering for another successful mandarin harvest, bringing fresh, locally grown fruit to communities across Western Australia.

Supported by a dedicated team of individual volunteers, along with corporate volunteer groups from Cummins, Bankwest, Hancock Iron Ore, Macquarie Bank and Hawaiian Property Group, the harvest was a tremendous success.

Together, volunteers picked 8,242 kilograms of fresh mandarins, helping ensure nutritious produce reaches those who need it most.

The freshly harvested fruit has been distributed across Foodbank branches, Mobile Foodbank services and the School Fruit Van Program, providing access to healthy, seasonal produce for individuals, families and school students throughout the state.

This annual harvest is a wonderful example of the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses, volunteers and local producers come together to support their community. The contribution of fresh fruit not only helps supplement food relief efforts but also increases access to nutritious food for people experiencing hardship.

A huge thank you to the Gibbs family for once again welcoming our team onto their farm, and to all the volunteers whose time, energy and enthusiasm made this year’s harvest possible. Their generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of Western Australians.
