Participants immersed themselves in a range of thought-provoking sessions, interactive discussions and personal stories that explored food insecurity, housing instability, financial hardship, resilience and wellbeing. 

Throughout the evening, attendees gained valuable insight into the realities faced by many people across Western Australia. Community leaders, innovators and individuals with lived experience shared their perspectives, highlighting both the challenges facing vulnerable Australians and the strength, resilience and hope that can emerge in difficult circumstances. 

Participants were able to tailor their experience by selecting from a variety of sessions covering leadership, emotional intelligence, stress and trauma, resilience, and innovation in food relief. These conversations encouraged reflection on the causes of disadvantage and the role individuals, organisations and communities can play in creating positive change. 

The event was built on Foodbank WA’s belief that meaningful change begins with understanding.

By placing people at the centre of the conversation, Park for a Purpose created opportunities for attendees to deepen their awareness of the complex issues affecting many Western Australians while exploring practical solutions and innovative approaches to addressing them. 

In addition to raising awareness, the event supported Foodbank WA’s fundraising efforts towards a new Mobile Foodbank vehicle, which will help expand access to affordable food for vulnerable communities across the state. 

The success of the evening was made possible through the generous support of major partners Perth Airport and Skyfields by Perth Airport, along with presenting partners Brain & Cognitive Research Clinic and Perth Integrated Events Team. Their commitment, together with the support of numerous corporate and community organisations, helped create a memorable and meaningful experience for all involved. 

A particular highlight was the participation of Year 12 students from Carey Baptist College Forrestdale through their Service Learning Program. Their involvement demonstrated the important role young people play in building stronger, more compassionate communities and driving positive social change.

As the event concluded, participants left with a greater understanding of the challenges facing many Western Australians, as well as the opportunities that exist when communities come together with a shared commitment to making a difference. 

Through meaningful conversations, shared learning and powerful stories of resilience, Park for a Purpose delivered an experience that extended well beyond a single night and helped inspire action, connection and hope for the future.
