Why partner with Foodbank?

We source and distribute meals nationwide—supporting charities, schools and communities in need.

Last year alone, Foodbank sourced the equivalent of 92 million meals for more than 2,900 charity partners and 3,300 school breakfast programs nationwide.

Food relief helps people feel less hungry, less stressed and more hopeful, while giving them the energy to focus, learn and work.

Foodbank plays a critical role in tackling Australia’s $36.6 billion food waste problem by rescuing good food that would otherwise go to landfill.

or every kilogram of food distributed, $43 of social, environmental and economic value is created. For every $1 invested, $5.67 in value is delivered back to the community.

Why it matters

Right now, millions of Australians are struggling to put food on the table, and at worst skipping meals or going whole days without eating.

The rising cost of living means more people are turning to food relief, and they’re needing support more often.

At Foodbank, we believe everyone should have access to good food, no matter their situation.

Sustainable development goals

Foodbank plays a vital role in helping Australia deliver on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — a global blueprint to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.

Our work directly supports five of the 17 goals:

We support people experiencing hardship by providing essential food relief. We work with charities and schools across Australia to help build stronger, more resilient communities. By reducing the pressure of food insecurity, we help lessen the impact of poverty and give people the support they need to get back on their feet.

Foodbank is Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation. Our mission is for a hunger-free Australia. We work with the entire Australian food and grocery industry to source and distribute food to ensure everyone has access to good food. Achieving zero hunger is key to improving health, education and equality.

Food insecurity doesn’t discriminate and impacts many people in our communities. Our work helps bridge the gap by supporting those doing it tough, have access to good, culturally appropriate food.

Australian produces enough food for the population three times over. We rescue and divert from landfill, perfectly edible food and groceries from farms and growers to manufacturers and retailers. We are advocating the Federal Government to apply a National Food Donation Incentive.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We work with growers, producers, charities, schools, governments and corporate partners to share resources and deliver real impact.
