Foodbank donations pass 5.1 million kilograms
The strength of our donor partnerships continues to shine, with total donations increasing by 6.2% compared to June last year.
At a time when demand for food relief continues to grow week after week, this support has never been more important.
While we have seen some reductions in non-food categories, particularly household and pet care items, these declines have been more than offset by strong growth in some of our most important food lines.
Encouragingly, donations of protein products, fresh essentials such as dairy, bread and eggs, as well as frozen meals, bakery items and vegetables have all increased significantly. This shift towards core food staples and nutritious products is helping us provide the quality, variety and consistency that individuals and families across our network need.
This growth is reflected in the contributions of many of our valued donor partners. Inghams, Bega, Woolworths and Galati now hold the top four positions among our donors, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to supporting Western Australians experiencing hardship.
Looking at the bigger picture, overall donations are up 7.8% on the previous financial year, with total donations now exceeding 5.1 million kilograms.
This achievement reflects the generosity of our donors and the collective commitment of the food and grocery industry to helping address food insecurity across our state.
We are especially grateful for this support as the rising cost of living continues to place pressure on households across Western Australia. What was once expected to be a temporary challenge is increasingly becoming a long-term reality for many families. As everyday expenses remain high, more people are turning to Foodbank for assistance, and client numbers continue to grow across our network. The generosity of our donors is helping ensure we can respond to this increasing need and continue delivering essential food to those doing it tough.
As donation volumes continue to grow, so too does our ability to provide greater choice and consistency for the people we support. The Foodbank Pantry range has now expanded to 50 products, giving agencies and clients access to an even wider selection of affordable pantry staples. At the same time, our Supply team is focused on securing reliable, ongoing access to everyday essentials such as eggs, milk, bread and butter/margarine, ensuring these high-demand items remain available across the network.
Together, these achievements highlight the power of partnership.
Every donation contributes to a stronger, more resilient food relief system, helping Foodbank deliver nutritious food to communities across Western Australia. To all our donor partners, thank you. Your continued support is making a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of Western Australians and helping us meet a level of demand that shows no sign of slowing.
