Supporting communities through
NAIDOC Week celebrations

NAIDOC Week celebrations provided a valuable opportunity for Foodbank WA to connect with communities across the state,

supporting local events and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal organisations through food assistance, community engagement and information sharing.

By partnering with community groups across metropolitan and regional Western Australia, we helped ensure celebrations were accessible, inclusive and well-supported.

This year, we partnered with several organisations across metropolitan and regional Western Australia, providing food support and hosting information stalls to help raise awareness of available services and connect with community members.

In Seville Grove, we joined celebrations at Champion Centre, hosting an information stall and providing product support. The initiative was made possible through funding from MGX Resources (formerly Mt Gibson), helping ensure community members could access food relief information and support during the event.

We also participated in NAIDOC Week activities at Koolark, Midland TAFE, where the team hosted an information stall, engaging with students, staff and community members. The event was proudly funded by Midland TAFE, supporting opportunities to promote food security and community wellbeing.

In regional Western Australia, we provided food products support the Bloodwood Tree Association in South Hedland, helping contribute to local NAIDOC Week celebrations and community gatherings.

This support was funded by Bloodwood Tree, reflecting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to the local community.

Further north, we supplied food support to Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation (NYFL) in Roebourne, assisting the organisation in bringing people together to celebrate culture, history and community during NAIDOC Week. The initiative was funded by NYFL.

In Wyndham, we partnered with the Wyndham Youth Aboriginal Corporation (WYAC), providing food support to help facilitate local celebrations and activities. This support was made possible through funding from MGX Resources (formerly Mt Gibson), enabling meaningful community participation across the region.

We also had a presence at events in Wellington Square, East Perth, where the team hosted an information stall and provided product support. Funded by MGX Resources, the initiative created opportunities to engage directly with community members and share information about our programs and services.

These partnerships demonstrate the importance of collaboration in supporting Aboriginal communities and ensuring NAIDOC Week celebrations are accessible, inclusive and well-supported.

Through the generous contributions of funding partners and community organisations, Foodbank WA was proud to play a role in celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Western Australia.
