Dalyellup facility reaches major construction milestones
There’s been plenty happening at our new Dalyellup facility,
and each week brings us one step closer to opening the doors to a space that will help support communities across the South West.
Since completing the foundations in May, the project has quickly moved into an exciting new stage.
What was once a construction site is now beginning to look like a real building, with major milestones achieved over the past few months.
One of the most exciting moments has been seeing the external walls go up. For the first time, it’s possible to get a sense of the scale and shape of the future facility, which will become a vital hub for food relief and community support throughout the region.
Behind the scenes, work has also continued on the future car park, access roads and solar power system, while windows, doors and glazing remain on track for installation.
Another major milestone has recently been reached, with the roof now complete and the building fully enclosed. It’s been incredible to watch the transformation take place, and there’s a real sense of momentum as the project continues to progress on schedule and within budget!
We’re also excited to announce that Expressions of Interest are now open for the public artwork program at the new facility.
Noongar artists connected to Wardandi Country are invited to apply for one of three creative opportunities, including a large-scale exterior mural, a graphic design package and a photography suite.
The artwork will help tell the story of the local community and celebrate the connection, creativity and sense of purpose that will make this facility such a special place.
Applications close on 31 August.
Learn more about itVisitors to the site may have also noticed a new project sign that recognises the generous funding partners who have helped bring this vision to life. Thank you to Department of Communities, Lotterywest, Minderoo Foundation, Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and Telethon. Their support is helping create a lasting community asset that will strengthen food relief services and provide greater support for people experiencing food insecurity across the South West.
Perhaps best of all, the project remains on track for completion in mid-December, with plans to move into the new facility in early 2027.
We’re excited to continue sharing the journey with our community and can’t wait to show you more as this remarkable new space comes to life.
