We are excited about our Grain Program

Being the biggest grain growing state in the country we wanted to promote our grain program to help us keep food on the tables of local families in need. 

Each year, we need more pasta and cereal to help those who are going without. Our grain program is essential for us to meet the increasing need, and we can’t do it without the farmers and partners who support us. 

The impact of this program is boosted through collaboration with our manufacturing partners who donate the production time, along with their ingredient and packaging suppliers who provide donations, discounts, or subsidies – making our program sustainable, efficient and impactful. 

We aim to keep the grain program is simple, as is the process of donating grain.  When grain is donated to our Foodbank WA NGR number, to keep it simple for everyone, we consolidate the donated grain and trade it, we then use 100% of the funds generated from the grain funds, to pay for the specified grain that is used by our manufacturing partners to produce product specifically for Foodbank, through this collaboration our manufacturing partners donate the processing time, their input partners, support with providing the ingredients, packaging and transport, to produce WA made cereal and Australian made pasta, for us to distribute back into the rural and regional communities in need, that also support us.

A donation of just half a tonne of grain provides more than 12,000 servings of cereal. For every $1 invested, we can distribute $5 worth of food to people who would otherwise go without. 

We were so pleased to make valuable connections with farmers, primary producers and agricultural workers at the event and are eager to see the grain supply chain making a difference to those in need by getting involved in our grain program. Watch this space.
