It takes a village:
Help us grow our volunteer community

September signals the start of Spring and across WA, wildflowers are blooming, the days are stretching out, and people are emerging from winter hibernation to reconnect.

At the office, we’re feeling that same fresh energy with new faces, new conversations, and the same big mission: to make sure no one goes hungry. Just like the season, volunteering is about growth and renewal.

A friendly chat while packing hampers, a shared laugh over the pallet jack, or a coffee after a shift can brighten someone’s whole week. For many of our volunteers, the kitchen or warehouse has become more than a place to give; it’s become a place to belong. That is why this month, we’re inviting you to help us grow our circle.

If our organisation has given you a sense of purpose, friendship, or community, imagine how many others out there are looking for the same thing. We’re in need of extra hands, and nobody can tell the story better than the people who already make it happen. We have interesting volunteering opportunities in various areas like shopfloor, Mobile Foodbank, Perth Markets and Community Kitchen.

With the holiday season fast approaching, now’s the perfect time to bring someone new into the fold.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Spread the word: In your neighbourhood, workplace, social clubs, or any community you are a part of
  • Bring a mate: Invite a friend or family member to tag along on your next shift. Seeing it in action might just be the spark they need!

If you know someone who’d love to join our volunteer community, please reach out to us at volunteering@foodbankwa.org.au. Let’s kick off the holiday season with an even bigger, stronger, and more connected volunteer community. Because at Foodbank WA, it really does take a village and we’re so glad you are a part of ours!
