Together with Telethon, we are changing lives

Have you ever felt the power of a community that truly cares? That’s exactly how we felt attending Telethon’s Annual Giving Celebration breakfast in April.
In what was a truly inspiring morning, Telethon revealed Foodbank WA as one of the 161 beneficiaries, children’s charities, and organisations that will receive crucial funding to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families across Western Australia.
We are delighted and honoured to be a beneficiary of Telethon, as their support helps us to build a better future for Western Australian Kids though our nom! Children program and School Breakfast Program.
Our nom! Children program is tailored for parents with young children (0-5 years) helping them to guide their kids to eat well, gain confidence to cook healthy meals on a budget and make mealtimes less stressful.
A vital outcome of the program is improved confidence, knowledge, and food literacy skills for families. Good nutrition during early childhood has been recognised as a critical indicator for optimal health, growth, and cognitive development, from conception to five years.
We are thrilled that Telethon have also very generously committed to contributing to the provision of food to schools for our School Breakfast Program until the end of 2025, which represents an incredible 18 years of continuous Telethon support.
Our School Breakfast Program started in 2001 with a group of just 17 schools. For 25 years we have been providing WA schools with access to breakfast foods to ensure students who come to school hungry have a nutritious meal before entering the classroom. But we know the Program is more than just providing a healthy breakfast, it supports concentration and in-class engagement, student behaviour, academic outcomes and mental health and teacher-student relations.
In 2024, a record 552 schools across the state registered for the Program. While our team is thrilled to reach new schools and provide this service to more students, it is a bittersweet achievement. That’s 552 schools who see children coming to school hungry. 552 schools who recognise the difference that one meal can make. 552 schools where students need help, to get food in their tummies for better nutrition, health, and academic outcomes.
We are committed to working towards ending hunger and nourishing young minds with Telethons support.
Thank you, Telethon, together we are feeding change right here in WA.
