Iluka serving up food relief
to the mid-west
How can a warehouse which measures only approximately 30m x 50m, provide 1,174,533 meals in one financial year?
The answer is simple, with the support of amazing companies such as Iluka Resources who have generously partnered with us for more than four years, providing essential funding for our Geraldton branch.
Between April 2024 and March 2025 – 675,882 meals provided can be attributed to the support of Iluka, ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families within the region have access to healthy and nutritious food, as well as assisting our 20 charity partners and 35 schools in the Midwest.

Over the last few months, our partnership with Iluka has enabled us to establish an Everyday Food Essential Program. The Everyday Food Essential Program is our pantry staple items such as tuna, tinned fruit and vegetables, tinned spaghetti, baked beans and Weetabix. This means that the branch now has a range of 12 products, guaranteed to be available every day in branch.
With Iluka’s support, the remainder of 2025 is looking to be busy for the Geraldton Branch with plans to expand our Mobile Foodbank to surrounding areas, establishing financial services at the branch, and expanding the Everyday Food Essentials range. An exciting collaboration with Regional Alliance West – Carnarvon will allow us to work on a special project and another collaboration with RAW – an Indigenous Women’s Legal Program – will make it possible to travel to communities within the Midwest as far as Meekatharra, Mt Magnet, Cue and Yalgoo to provide food relief.
Living in regional and remote Western Australia is widely considered more expensive than Perth across a range of goods and services, especially food – due to vast distances and transportation costs. With many regional areas far from major distribution hubs the costs of fuel required for the long-distance transportation for fresh produce, meat and other goods are passed onto customers.
Thanks to Iluka, communities in the Midwest have access to fresh and healthy food, and a reprieve from ever-rising food bills.
